The School of Art cookbook was created by Lauren Adolfsen (MFA Graphic Design 2011) during the 2010-2011 school year. The recipes come from students, faculty, and friends of the Yale School of Art. The recipes in the book are ordered in a typical cookbook fashion: breakfast, entrees, desserts, and so on. There is also a second level of categorization that is more descriptive, including Magic, Inherited, and Lightning Round. Each recipe lives in a distinctive border that corresponds to its descriptive category. The idea for the borders came from a book by Rufus Porter, which Lauren saw at the Beinecke Library, entitled A select collection of approved, genuine, secret, and modern receipts... where each recipe was surrounded by an intricate border. The cookbook also features photographic illustrations of recipes created in a collaboration between Lauren and MFA photography student Felix Rodriguez Cid. The book was printed, cut and bound by Lauren as an edition of 100 copies in March 2011.
